About our yacht

Her name is KWANZA which means "first" in Swahili. We chose the name because this would be our first yacht and the yacht that comes first (wins).
She is a Beneteau Oceanis 48. A Southampton show yacht in 2012. She was transported to Ardrossan in Scotland for the commissioning on 14th April 2013. We sailed her in the Western Isles of Scotland for two years. At the end of 2015 we sailed to South England and installed several modifications that we deemed necessary for long distant cruising.


Equipment on board:
Yammer 75w main engine, sail drive with Beneteau "Dock and Go" drive system, Onan generator (7kw), three Simrad chart plotters (NSS 7 and 12), Bimini and spray screen, bow thruster, additional batteries, electric winches, full air-conditioning, water maker (60lt), Iridium Sat phone, Solar arch, Solar panels (400w), Wind generator, removable inner forestay, Spinnaker boom on front of mast, in-mast roller main sail, roller genoa sail, 'A' sail (spinnaker), Staysail, Storm gib, additional fuel tank that doubles capacity, TV, two fridge freezers, AIS, 4G radar, Luxury interior with leather seating and LED lighting. etc. etc.
